Best Batting Cages in Huntington Beach [2026 Guide]
If you've searched "batting cages near me" from anywhere in Huntington Beach lately, you've probably noticed something weird: half the results are either temporarily closed, outdated, or located 15 miles away in Anaheim.
That's because the batting cage landscape in HB and coastal Orange County has been in flux.
The city-run cages at the Sports Complex shut down for renovations. D-BAT in Stanton has been closed. And most of the facilities that do show up are small, niche operations that cater to one sport or one age group.
So what are your actual options?
I spent the last few weeks visiting, calling, and researching every batting cage facility in and around Huntington Beach to put together this honest breakdown.
No fluff, no filler, just what each place offers, what it costs, and who it's best for.
Here's what I found.
1. On Deck Batting Cages — Huntington Beach (Our Top Pick)
Address: 7442 Vincent Circle, Huntington Beach, CA 92648
Type: Indoor facility — baseball, softball, cricket, team rentals, private lessons
Size: ~19,000 sq ft
Full disclosure: this is our facility. But I'll give you the same honest rundown I'm giving everyone else on this list, and you can decide for yourself.
On Deck is relocating from our Signal Hill location (where we've operated for 18+ years) to a brand new 19,000-square-foot indoor facility in Huntington Beach. The new space opens in June 2026, and it's a completely different animal from what we had before.
What makes this facility different
Nine oversized cage lanes. Each one is 70 feet long and 15 feet wide, with retractable netting systems that open up to create nearly 7,000 square feet of connected turfed training space. That means you can go from cage work to infield drills to team practice without leaving the building.
Every cage has a college-sized baseball pitching mound and a flat softball pitching mound. Pitching machines include TRIPLEPLAY PLUS real-baseball machines for baseball hitters and Jugs Jr. machines for softball. The turf is black, a design choice that reduces glare and keeps the focus on the ball.
We also have numerous professional private instructors offering baseball or softball lessons. These private instructors offer hitting, pitching, feilding, and catching lessons.
Technology that actually matters
We're installing both a full HitTrax batting simulator system and Rapsodo Hitting 2.0 and Pitching 2.0 units for daily use. If you're not familiar: HitTrax tracks exit velocity, launch angle, distance, and spray charts in real time. This is the same data that MLB front offices use to evaluate hitters. Rapsodo measures spin rate, spin axis, and movement profiles on every pitch. These aren't demo units that sit in a corner. They're integrated into the training flow.
Your kid can take 30 swings and walk out knowing their average exit velo, their hardest-hit ball, and exactly where their swing tends to break down. That kind of feedback used to require a $200/hour private session at a D1 program. Here, it's part of the experience.
The weight room nobody expected
This is the part that separates On Deck from anything else in Orange County.
The HB facility includes a full strength and conditioning area built with all-new equipment. This includes: squat racks, Olympic bumper plates, plyo boxes, push sleds, and two Proteus Motion machines.
If you haven't seen a Proteus, look it up. It's a 3D resistance training system that measures force output, power, and velocity on every rep. There are maybe a handful of these in all of Southern California, and we have two.
The weight room is run by EM Speed & Power, who have been making elite athletes faster and stronger for over 2 decades, and it's designed to rival what you'd find at a Division I college program. Speed and agility work, explosiveness training, mobility–all under professional guidance, all under the same roof as the cages.
EM Academics: A Sports Charter School for 5th thru 12th Grade Athletes
This is the part most people don't know about.
EM Academics is a fully accredited charter school program (grades 5-12) that operates inside the On Deck facility. WASC accredited. NCAA approved. UC/CSU certified. Student-athletes attend class in dedicated, purpose-built classrooms during the day, then walk across the hall to train. No 45-minute commute to practice. No missed reps because of traffic on the 405.
This is the highest-value feature of the entire facility, and it's something no competitor within 30 miles can match. If your kid is serious about playing in college, the combination of accredited academics, professional-level training technology, and a structured daily environment is exactly what college coaches want to see.
The details that add up
Fully remodeled restrooms. Enhanced lighting and ventilation throughout. A pro shop with gear and snacks. The whole facility was designed from scratch. This isn't a warehouse with nets hung from the rafters.
The exposed timber ceiling, skylights, polished concrete, and black turf give it a feel that's closer to a college fieldhouse than a strip-mall cage rental.
Pricing
Pricing for the HB location will be announced closer to opening. Check ondeckbattingcages.com for updates and to book.
Who it's best for
Youth baseball and softball players (ages 4-18). Families who want training, school, and strength work in one place. Travel ball teams that need a professional indoor facility for practice. High school players preparing for college showcases. Cricket players looking for indoor net sessions (we're the only facility in HB offering this). Adults who want to take some cuts without dodging rain or fighting for a token machine. Slow-pitch softball players who want to throw live or use a machine dialed perfectly for slow-pitch.
2. Huntington Beach Sports Complex — City-Operated Batting Cages
Address: 18100 Goldenwest Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92648 Type: Outdoor, coin-operated Status: Cages currently closed (as of early 2026)
The HB Sports Complex is a beautiful 45-acre city facility with softball fields, soccer fields, turf areas, and, in theory, batting cages. The cages are still currently closed for business, but boast an possible re-opening in 2027.
The cages were equipped with Iron Mike arm-style pitching machines, which do a solid job mimicking a real pitcher's delivery.
When they're open, the pricing is dead simple: $1 per token, $5 for 6 tokens, 12 pitches per token. Walk up, drop tokens, hit. No appointment needed.
The catch? Reliability. The cages, when they are opened up again, are frequently closed without notice, weather, maintenance, staffing issues, or special events at the complex can all shut them down on any given day. Multiple Yelp reviews mention showing up only to find them locked. There's also a $2 daily parking fee for the complex, which is minor but worth knowing.
If you just want casual token-operated cages and don't mind calling ahead to confirm they're actually open, the Sports Complex is fine. But there's no instruction available, no technology, no indoor option when it rains, and no guarantee the gates will be unlocked when you arrive.
Pricing
$1 per token (12 pitches)
$5 for 6 tokens
30-minute cage reservations available by phone
Who it's best for
Casual family outings. Little Leaguers who want to take a few swings on a weekend. Anyone whose primary criteria is "cheap and outdoors."
3. Pure Fastpitch
Address: 5953 Engineer Drive, Huntington Beach, CA 92649 Type: Indoor — softball only Size: Small facility (3 cages + pitching area)
Pure Fastpitch is a softball-specific training center affiliated with the Firecrackers travel organization. If your daughter plays fastpitch, you've probably heard of it. The facility has three indoor cages, a pitching area, and a team wear store. Private lessons are available in hitting, pitching, catching, and fielding.
The instruction quality is high level. They've been around for years and have a loyal following. But the facility itself is small, and it's strictly softball. No baseball. No technology like HitTrax or Rapsodo. No weight room or conditioning area.
Pricing
Cage rental: $25/30 min (up to 4 players)
Team cage rental: $70/cage (1-hour minimum)
Two-cage team rental: $140
Private lessons: contact for rates
Who it's best for
Dedicated fastpitch softball players. Firecrackers organization members. Girls who want softball-specific instruction from experienced coaches.
Limitations
Softball only. Small facility with limited cage availability. No performance technology. No strength/conditioning. The digital presence is dated — the website looks like it hasn't been updated in a while, and the Instagram sits at under 500 followers.
4. Softball Connection
Address: 18211 Enterprise Lane, Suite D, Huntington Beach, CA 92648 Type: Indoor — softball only Size: 6,000 sq ft
Softball Connection is another one of well-known Firecrackers Softball’s owner Tony Rico's operations. It’s a 6,000-square-foot indoor facility dedicated to fastpitch softball training. Rico has deep experience as a player and coach, and the instruction side of the business has a strong reputation. He emphasizes the mental game alongside physical skills, which resonates with a lot of families.
Like Pure Fastpitch, this is a softball-only shop and is dedicated to the Firecrackers elite travel softball organization. No baseball, no cricket, no general cage rentals for walk-in customers. It's a training operation built around private instruction and team sessions.

Contact directly for lesson and rental rates: (714) 841-2733
Who it's best for
Serious fastpitch softball players in the Firecracker org who want focused instruction. Travel softball families who value softball coaching philosophy and mentorship alongside physical training.
Limitations
Softball only. Small facility. The website (softballconnection.net) doesn't list pricing or services in detail. No technology platforms, no weight room, no baseball or open to the public option.
5. Outwork Training
Address: 17782 Metzler Lane, Suite A, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 Type: Indoor — baseball and softball Size: Small facility
Outwork Training is a newer operation located less than half a mile from the HB Sports Complex. They offer indoor batting cages and pitching machines for both baseball and softball, with a focus on youth athlete development. All cage time must be pre-booked at least one hour in advance — no walk-ins.
The facility is small and appointment-only, which keeps things less crowded but also limits flexibility. It's a solid option if you know your schedule in advance and want a quieter environment for focused work.
Pricing
Contact directly for rates: (714) 907-3218. They offer a 10% discount on first purchases through their newsletter signup.
Who it's best for
Youth baseball and softball players who want a reservation-based, less crowded environment. Families in the Goldenwest/Gothard corridor who want something nearby.
Limitations
Small facility. Appointment only (1-hour advance booking required). No walk-in availability. Limited online information about specific services, technology, or pricing.
6. Nearby Options Worth Knowing About
If you're willing to drive 10-20 minutes outside HB, a few more options open up:
The Cage at Los Alamitos — About 12-15 minutes from central HB. It’s a small indoor facility with a loyal customer base. Worth checking out if you're on the east side of HB near Seal Beach.
The Clubhouse Baseball OC (Costa Mesa) — 14,000-square-foot facility with HitTrax and TrackMan technology. Owned by a former MLB player. About 15 minutes south of HB. One of the better-equipped facilities in OC, though the pricing reflects it.
D-BAT Orange County West (Stanton) — 13,700-square-foot facility with 11 cages. Part of a national franchise. Currently temporarily closed as of early 2026, but worth monitoring for a reopening announcement.
Home Run Park (Anaheim) — The old-school outdoor batting cage park. It’s got token-operated machines, walk-in friendly. About 18 miles from HB, so it's a hike, but it's been around forever and it's exactly what you picture when you think "batting cages."

So Which One Should You Pick?
It depends on what you need.
If your kid plays travel fastpitch softball for the Firecrackers and you want specialized coaching from people who eat, sleep, and breathe the sport, then Pure Fastpitch and Softball Connection are both obvious choices. They're small, not open for the public, focused, and have built their reputations on instruction quality.
If you want a cheap, casual, no-commitment experience where you drop a few bucks in a token machine and take some hacks, the HB Sports Complex (once it’s open again) will be great for that.
If you want a full-service training facility where your athlete can hit in professional-grade cages, get data from the same technology used by MLB and D1 programs, get professional baseball or softball private lessons, train in a real weight room, that's what we built On Deck HB to be.
We're obviously biased. But we also spent 18 years running a batting cage facility before designing this one, and every decision in the new space came from something we learned watching thousands of families walk through our doors.
The oversized cages exist because we watched kids start to outgrow standard cages by age 12. The Rapsodo and HitTrax exist because parents kept asking us "how do I know if my kid is actually improving?" The weight room exists because we got tired of telling families they needed to drive to a separate gym for strength work.
We open in June 2026. Come see it for yourself.
